What is the Water Research School?

The Water Research School was formed to provide research education in water at a high international quality.

It is a community for PhD students, their supervisors, and collaborators in the water industry in Sweden.

It includes courses, networking activities, and a mentor program. 

The School is financed by Swedish Water and FORMAS, the Swedish Research Council for Sustainable Development. It was founded in 2017. It brings together people from Universities in Sweden, the Swedish Water research clusters VA-teknik Södra, DRICKS, VA-kluster Mälardalen, and Dag&Nät, and Sweden Water Research.

As part of the research school you:

  • take at least three courses arranged by WRS
  • join the yearly seminar 
  • join the mentor program (optional)
  • You will meet and interact with fellow PhD students interested in water.
  • You get to visit different research environments in Sweden.
  • You get to participate in courses of high international standard.
  • You can participate in the yearly seminar, giving and listen to interesting talks.
  • Participate in workshops and social events.
  • Have the option to join the mentorship program.
  • Members linked to clusters will have priority for courses and other activities with limited numbers of participants.
  • PhD courses, given at the different Universities
  • Educational study tours.
  • Every year a seminar day with a specific theme will be given.
  • Social and scientific networking activities.
  • A mentorship program linking students to experienced people in water research and industry

The research school is open for:

  • PhD students from the research clusters, VA-Teknik Södra, Dricks, VA-kluster Mälardalen, and Dag&Nät or Sweden Water Research. 
  • Other PhD students interested in the any aspect connected to the Water Industry.
  • Interested individuals from the Water Sector in Sweden.
