Swedish name: Livscykelanalys för hållbara vattensystem
Education level: PhD course, 3 hp

Location: Room SB-S393, Chalmers University of Technology, Sven Hultins gata 6, Göteborg.
Format: 3,5 day course with one introductory session online.
Date: 25 February 2025 (online), 12-14 March 2025 (in real life at Chalmers)

Prerequisites: Open for PhD candidates in urban water; university level chemistry as part of a completed engineering degree.
Maximum enrollment: 20 students
Intended learning outcomes
After completing the course, students should be able to:
- Describe the trends in the operating environment and technological systems for sustainable water and wastewater utilities
- Understand the content and context of life cycle assessment, and be able to commission LCA studies, engage in critical and constructive dialogue with LCA practitioners and read LCA reports in order to extract useful implications.
- Describe aspects of life cycle assessment methods that are particular to the evaluation of water services.
Assessment
The course will be assessed by individual assignment in which students develop a goal and scope description for an LCA study connected with their PhD research. The assignment is to be handed in a week after the course and marked by Anders and Greg. Active participation in the in situ coursework at Chalmers is also a requirement for course completion.
